To address the significant race and gender gap in the tech industry, the Code for Progress (CFP) fellowship was born. As a program, CFP trains fellows in a four-month long coding boot camp in Washington, D.C. and awards them a $3,000 stipend each month. Access to computer science courses is one of the core reasons behind race/sex disparity, and this fellowship targets that issue in particular. Applications for the program can be found here.

I think this subject is so incredibly important. The article mentions grim statistics from Google, Apple, LinkedIn and Yahoo, where women and people of color have a very limited workplace presence. This fellowship is at least one step toward knocking down the existent barriers for women and people of color trying to make it in the tech field.
