As an experimental re-purposing project, cracked and battered pieces of wood were made whole again. After combining resin with a glow-in-the-dark pigment, a user on World of Technology applied the mixture to each split and crevice in the wooden planks. The final result was natural, earthly wooden shelves that glow cyber-blue where they have suffered injuries.

This project seems to be the timber equivalent to prosthetic limbs for humans, bringing the concept of cyborgs to mind. The alternative for trees explores many of the same ideas – mainly, how to assist a natural subject’s recovery with the aid of unnatural additions. Both humans and the aforementioned wood are made stronger by their new pieces, and the add-ons become an integrated part of their whole.
